(BBC Sport) Fan violence interrupted Marseille's Europa League draw with Galatasaray with play stopped for around eight minutes at Stade Velodrome. Flares and objects were thrown by rival fans towards the end of the first half despite them being segregated. The match was then halted to allow the police to restore order in the stadium. Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim, and club captains Fernando Muslera and Dimitri Payet approached fans in an attempt to calm the situation. The game resumed with about eight minutes remaining in the first period to the sound of firecrackers still going off in the stands. An on-field clash between the home side's on-loan Arsenal defender William Saliba and Galatasaray forward Mbaye Diagne also saw objects thrown on to the pitch during stoppage time as both players were separated by team-mates before they received bookings. It is not the first time this season that Marseille have been involved in an incident of this nature. Payet was hit by a bottle and threw it back into the crowd before fans stormed the pitch causing their Ligue 1 match at Nice to be abandoned. Marseille's opening 3-2 win at Montpellier in August was also held up when fans pelted the pitch with bottles.

(The Guardian) Sparta complain of ‘xenophobic attacks’ on children Sparta Prague have asked Rangers to help stop what they called “xenophobic attacks” on the children who booed Ibrox midfielder Glen Kamara, report PA Media: Rangers manager Steven Gerrard earlier revealed the club were in the process of contacting UEFA about the treatment Kamara was subjected to during their 1-0 Europa League defeat in the Czech Republic on Thursday. Kamara’s every touch was booed in a stadium largely occupied by schoolchildren, months after Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela was banned for 10 matches by UEFA for racially abusing the Finland international. Kamara, who was suspended for three matches for an alleged assault on the Czech international in the Ibrox tunnel in March, was sent off to huge cheers on Thursday after picking up two bookings. The Letna Stadium was originally meant to be closed as a result of racist abuse by Sparta fans towards Monaco’s Aurelius Tchouameni but UEFA agreed that around 10,000 fans – mainly schoolchildren with some accompanying adults – would be allowed in. In a lengthy statement, Sparta said: “It is absolutely unbelievable that after a match we have children being attacked and face unfounded accusations of racism. Insulting children on the internet and in the media is unacceptable, desperate and ridiculous. Stop attacking our children! Our club will proudly defend our children – our future and our pride. Slandering children on the internet is extremely cowardly. “We are seeing unprecedented xenophobic statements against the Czech Republic, its citizens and even its children on social media. You are describing the behaviour of children incorrectly, arrogating to yourself the right to judge the expression of emotions of six-year-old children who have no idea what racism is. It’s an impertinence.”

(The Guardian) Uefa has banned West Ham supporters from attending their side’s Europa League away tie against Rapid Vienna next week. West Ham were charged by European football’s governing body after trouble marred their 2-2 draw at Genk on 4 November. Uefa accused the Premier League club’s supporters of crowd disturbances and throwing objects during the match in Belgium. The charge has been upheld and West Ham, who top Group H after four matches, will not have any supporters with them when they travel to Vienna on 25 November. The London Stadium club have also been fined just under £25,500 (€30,000) for the disturbances and another £3,817 (€4,500) for the throwing of objects. Uefa said: “The Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has announced today the following decision for the group stage match KRC Genk vs West Ham United FC (2:2), played on 4 November in Belgium. “Charges against West Ham United FC: Crowd disturbances, Art. 16(2)(h) of the Uefa Disciplinary Regulations (DR), throwing of objects, Art. 16(2)(b) DR. Decision: The CEDB has decided: to fine West Ham United FC €30,000 and ban the sale of tickets to its away supporters for the next one (1) Uefa competition match, for crowd disturbances, (and) to fine West Ham United FC €4,500 for throwing of objects.” Football Supporters Europe tweeted in response: “With 1,700 tickets already sold & travel arrangements made, West Ham fans have been banned from attending the game. Disproportionate. Unacceptable. Time to end collective punishment, Uefa.” West Ham are in a commanding position in their group with two matches left. They will secure their place in the last 16 if they earn a point in Vienna.

(BBC Sport) West Ham have accepted a Uefa sanction banning their fans from travelling to the Europa League game at Rapid Vienna. The Hammers were charged with crowd disturbances and for their fans throwing items in their draw with Genk. In a statement West Ham said they "reluctantly" accepted sanctions but "also wish to place on record our disappointment at the extremely short notice of the measures." The game against Rapid Vienna takes place on Thursday 25 November. The Premier League club, who were also fined a total of 34,500 euros (£30,000), said that they were working to identify the fans responsible for the disturbance. "West Ham United condemn the behaviour of this group of individuals," the statement added. "We are working to identify them following their actions, which have now ultimately led to our supporters - the vast majority of whom behaved impeccably in Belgium - being punished and resulting in David Moyes' team being forced to play in Austria without the backing of the club's fans." The Hammers also "strongly" urged their fans not to travel to Vienna for the tie. "Fans will not be granted access to the Allianz Stadion and any attempt to enter the stadium could lead to further sanctions for the individuals and the club in the future," they added.

(BBC Sport) Seven Leicester City players have not travelled to Italy for Thursday's final Europa League group stage game against Napoli. Players are unavailable because of a combination of positive Covid-19 tests as well as some feeling "unwell". Three members of the backroom staff have also not made the trip. "We have had some positive cases and some people who are not well so we haven't taken the risk," boss Brendan Rodgers said. "We will have seven [players] unavailable. It's been the last few days really, you're starting to see a few more cases. It's about the health of our players and we have to respect the travel, coming into Italy. We still have a strong squad here, but unfortunately not a fully-fit squad." Rodgers confirmed midfielder Youri Tielemans and defender Ryan Bertrand are available for selection following their injuries. Leicester, who are currently top of Group C in the Europa League with eight points from five games, will qualify for the last 16 if they beat Napoli. "It's one we're very comfortable on, knowing it's in our own hands," Rodgers added. "If we win, we top the group, if we don't lose we qualify. The key is to be positive in our mindset and try to win the game. They are an excellent team but we played really well against them at home."
